Assassins Creed and Final Fantasy XV Collaboration Announced

first_imgNow, this is an Assassin’s Creed unity we can all get behind. Square-Enix and Ubisoft have announced a collaboration that will see the Assassin’s Creed and Final Fantasy franchises pay homage to one another. The two powerhouse companies celebrated the occasion by revealing a piece of artwork (which you can see above) at this year’s Gamescom.“This collaboration is the result of being huge fans,” said Ashraf Ismail, game director at Ubisoft Montreal. “There’s a lot of respect between the two teams, and we couldn’t be more thrilled with the opportunity to pay homage to each other’s work.”Apparently, this collaboration began almost three years ago during an informal meeting at the Tokyo Game Show where the two companies got together to express their admiration for each other’s works. According to today’s blog post from Ubisoft, hints of this collaboration are hidden in last November’s FFXV trailer, the Assassin’s Creed Origin announcement trailer, and the AC Origins Gamescom trailer. The collaboration will begin on August 30. At that time, Final Fantasy XV players that acquired the Dream Egg from the Moogle Chocobo Carnival event will be given an Assassin’s Creed outfit for Noctis. On August 31, a free DLC called Assassin’s Festival will launch for FFXV. The event will take place in the town of Lestallum, which will have signs and banners signaling the festival. Players can expect new activities, themed items, and features. This will include another Assassin’s Creed outfit which gives Noctis the ability to explore the world and use the skills of an Assassin.Ubisoft’s blog post didn’t detail what Final Fantasy XV homages will be in Assassin’s Creed Origin, though I suspect those details will be revealed within the coming weeks.Assassin’s Creed Origins will release on PS4, Xbox One, and PC on October 27. You can pre-order it now from Amazon.Let us know what you like about Geek by taking our survey.last_img
