Beach Soccer League week 14: All still to fight for
Accra Based WuoGb33 claimed the headlines on match day 14 in the ongoing CAL Bank Beach soccer leagues by heavily denting the title aspirations of free scoring Havedji Mighty Warriors while Tegbi Youth and East Legon Sharks took giant strides towards Championship safety, but it was more of the same in the division one league.Havedji Mighty warriors who put themselves in pole position for the title last week fluffed their lines severally when they faced Wuo Gb33.The Volta based team seemed to have run out of attacking ideas and though they put their noses in front early on in the game through strikes from inspirational captain , Innocent Kumensah and Torsu Alfred, they were pegged back by the Wuo Gb33 who raced from behind to lead 3-2 at the end of the second period courtesy a brace from Black Sharks Striker Richard Osa and goal from Ibrahim Conney.Havedji managed a third through Nyadedzor Freeman but that was clearly not enough as a brace from the inform Razak Odamitten sealed the hard fought comeback which sees Wuo Gb33 go joint third with Havedji.Tegbi Youth and East Legon Sharks who have gone 7 weeks without a win indicated their desire to get out of the championship relegation mire by recording surprise wins over Layoca and Dansoman respectively. Tegbi Youth took the wind out of the sails of Layoca who were on a three match winning streak by posting a 4-2 win over them. East Legon accounted for Dansoman but only just, winning 3-2 in a game that could be best described as competitive. At the summit, leaders Ada Assurance took another giant step towards the crown after they saw off a rather determined Nungua United side 3-2. CAL bank beach soccer defending champions Keta Sunset Sports kept themselves within touching distance of Ada Assurance with a 5-1 win over Teshie United who are currently on a downward steep slope in the Championship. The heated race for Championship slots in Division one was given the needed impetus ahead of next weekend’s season defining games as all three contenders, Gulf Powers, Nima Bsc and Tema United posted 3-0 wins over Winneba Giants, Osu Dolphins and Golden Eagles respectively.Cape Coast Warriors kept their outside title hopes alive with a 3-0 win over Senya Sharks. In the final game of match day 14 at the La Beach Soccer Arena, African Angels did themselves a huge favor by picking maximum points in their game against Chorkor Blue whales who are firmly rooted in the scuffle for survival.
