Entries will be judged by a panel including experts from Canon with prizes awarded in two age categories, 17 and under, and 18 to 25.Bob Pickles, Director of Public Sector Business Development and Public Affairs at Canon said: Advertisement The British Red Cross is inviting nominations for its Humanitarian Awards 2016, which celebrate the extraordinary things ordinary young people do. The awards, sponsored by Canon, highlight how every day young people are making a huge difference to other people’s lives across the UK.The awards recognise children and young adults who have helped people in their local communities and beyond by giving first aid, befriending vulnerable people, fundraising and campaigning for good causes.This year the theme of the award is ‘making a difference matters’. Nominations are invited for people aged 25 or under, and both individuals and groups of young people are eligible.The four award categories are:fundraisingfirst aidcommunity action; andvolunteeringThere is an award for each category, in addition to an overall winner.  The charity encourages nominations to be accompanied by a photo of video to help bring the story to life. “Following the brilliant entries received for last year’s Humanitarian Awards, we’re excited to see the heroic work that young people have carried out over the last year. We are also pleased to add a new video category to the photography competition and look forward to seeing how this year’s theme is captured through the power of photography and video.
